How to install a Blogger template
It may look techy in installing a Blogger template, but it is really very simple. You only need to follow some steps to look your site better. A good looking site attracts everyone. Google Blogger offers you many inbuilt templates. But I personally feel that these templates are a little boring. There are many websites available on the internet which offer free and premium blogger templates. You can just download from it and install it in your blog. If you want to make your blog look professional, it is very much important to add a custom domain to your blog and install blogger template.
To install a Blogger template to your blog, you need the following basic requirements:
- A Google account and
- A Blogger Template.

Method 1: Upload the XML file to install the template.
Method 2: Copy and paste the codes to replace the template.
How to install a Blogger template?
Download the Blogger template
At first download the template you like. To download the template, you just need to search “blogger templates” in Google. Go to any site and simply download from it. You can download a free version of the theme or you can opt for the paid version too. In the paid version you will get more features than the free version.
Note: Before download, first check the demo of the template. If you do not like something in the template then go for a different template.
Extract the downloaded template file
The template is downloaded in a .zip file format. You have to extract the file to get the XML file.
The downloaded ZIP file may contain documentation and other files regarding the template. You will need only the file with the .xml file extension.
Login to your blogger dashboard
Now, login to your blogger dashboard to do the remaining steps. Go to the Theme section of your dashboard.
These are all the primary steps before installing the blogger template. Now we will move on to the two methods.
Installing the blogger template
Method 1:
In this method, there are 5 steps involved. You have to follow the 5 steps to install the blogger template without any error.
Step 1: Open the theme section from the blogger dashboard.
Step 2: Click on the Backup/Restore button.
Step 3: Click on the Download theme button.
This will download a backup of your current theme.
Step 4: Click on the Choose File button.
Go to the folder where you have extracted the template. Select the XML file there and click on Open.
Step 5: Click on the Upload button.
View your blog to check whether you have installed the blogger template successfully or not. I hope you have successfully installed the template.
Method 2:
This is a very simple method. You just have to copy and paste the codes to the blogger. To install the template with this method, follow the steps below.
Step 1: From the extracted folder open the XML file with your favorite code editor. Copy all the codes from the XML file by pressing CTRL+A and CTRL+C.
Step 2: Go to the Theme section of your blogger dashboard and click on the Edit HTML button.
Step 3: Paste all the codes you have copied from your code editor by pressing CTRL+V and click on the Save theme button.
You are done!
Now, view your blog to check the template installation. You can modify the widgets of your blog from the layout section of your blogger dashboard.
